The Golden Dawn party received a serious blow in Parliament on Thursday, when one of its MPs was banned for 14 days, without pay, for misconduct during a foreign policy debate.

Yiannis Lagos had been continuously reprimanded by the Speaker of the House for insulting other MPs and threatening to cause physical harm, during a debate in March on the Greece’s international relations – and specifically tension with Turkey and the negotiations with FYROM.

Despite the Parliament ban being the most severe punishment an MP can get for such misconduct, Yannis Lagos did not seem to be deterred: “I will force you to ridicule yourselves through this process again,” he said to his colleagues on Thursday. “I called you traitors and sellouts and I insist on this. You will never make me apologize or ask for your forgiveness.”
