An intercity bus in Greece has been struck by lightening and burned to the ground.

The lightning struck the KTEL bus on Saturday afternoon amidst heavy rainfall, while travelling from Alexandroupolis to Orestiada in the regional unit of Evros. It was located just outside the village of Monastiraki near the Greek-Turkish border when the incident occurred.

The bus caught on fire soon after being struck by lighting. According to reports, the driver was said to have reacted promptly, getting all 12 passengers off the bus safely before it was completely engulfed in flames.

Fire services were called to the scene, taking six fire trucks and 18 firemen to put out the blaze.
