The Annual Hellenic Language Awards is a chance for the Greek community and education circles to support the efforts and encourage continuation of the teaching and learning of the Greek language.

The Australian Hellenic Educators’ Association (AHEA) invites the Greek Community of Sydney and NSW and friends of the Greek Language and Culture to the
2012 Annual Hellenic Language Awards Ceremony.

The Hellenic Awards will be presented in the following categories: The”Athena” Awards: the top 2011 Higher School Certificate students in the Modern Greek language and Classical Greek language (Beginners’, Continuers’ and Extension courses); The “Alexander” the Macedonian Awards: the top 2011 Higher School Certificate students in the Ancient History course (Greek option); The”Socrates” Awards: tertiary students excelling in their studies in the Modern Greek and Classical Greek departments of Universities in NSW; The “Socrates” Awards: adult non-Greek background students excelling in their studies of the Modern Greek Language at Evening/Community College level; The “Kosmas o Aitolos” Awards: distinguished educators and supporters of the Greek language at all Greek Language providers; The “Phevos” Awards: Primary school students excelling in their Greek language studies at all Greek Language providers, government and private sectors.

The 2012 Annual Hellenic Language Awards Ceremony will be held on Sunday 20 May at St Spyridon Greek Orthodox College, High School Campus at 1130 Anzac Parade, Maroubra at 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
