Greece’s debut in the new UEFA tournament, the Nations League, resulted to a 1-0 win at Estonia on Saturday.

The Greek team was presented with a number of chances at the Estonian goal, during the first half of the match and 14 minutes into the game: Costas Mitroglou spotted Costas Fortounis down the right hand side and slotted the ball over the Estonian keeper with ease.

Mitroglou was forced out due to an injury early in the second half, replaced by Tasos Bakasetas.

Estonia increased pressure on the Greekteam, but were unable to convert any of their opportunities into an equalizer.

In other matches, Liverpool midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri helped Switzerland to a thumping 6-0 win over Iceland in League A Group 2 and Norwich forward Teemu Pukki’s early goal proved enough to give Finland a 1-0 victory over Hungary in their Group C2 clash in Tampere.

In League D Group 2 Belarus romped to a 5-0 home over minnows San Marino thanks to a brace from Stanislaw Drahun.

And in that same group Luxembourg saw off Moldova 4-0, scoring three times in the second-half.

Earlier on in the day Northern Ireland succumbed to a 2-1 defeat at home to Bosnia – Herzegovina.
