The Hawthorn Spartans were forced to make 12 changes last week as injuries and players unavailable for selection made choosing a strong side from a shortened playing list difficult, however the coaching staff took this opportunity to uncover the real depth of this year’s team.
Despite fielding a depleted side, the Spartans produced a great game culminating in 35 scoring opportunities, with a number of players stepping up to and raising the bar as the Hawthorn boys dominated the second half of the game to run out comfortable winners by 57 points.
