Adelaide accountant Demetres Zacharoudes is alleged to have stolen $1.3 million from his employer EPAC Salary Solutions.
The 31-year-old is accused of making six illegal transfers totalling $1.09 million from company bank accounts to his own accounts between October 2011 and April this year. Further to that, it is alleged that the police found him with nearly $12,000 in stolen cash. EPAC claims he made 21 transfers totalling $220,000 to an account operated by his parents.
Zacharoudes’ employer is seeking compensation for the loss and they are suing him in the Adelaide District Court for the $1.3 million it is claimed he took and are seeking damages, costs and interest.
He is due to face Adelaide Magistrates Court in July.
