The weekend saw the anticipated launch of the 64th issue of the Greek Australian Cultural League’s (GACL) magazine Antipodes.

The turnout exceeded the expectation of organisers, attracting an intergenerational audience.

The issue was officially launched on Sunday by Member for Calwell, Maria Vamvakinou MP who gave a touching speech, along with Greek Consul General Dimitrios Michalopoulos.

This year marked 45 years of continuous circulation for Antipodes.

The milestone was commemorated with a particularly special publication designed with a new format and layout, with this year’s issue also paying tribute to well-known poet Antigone Kefala.

It features published works submitted by GACL members and friends, and includes everything from poetry, short stories, studies, essays, book reviews, interviews, along with the works awarded in the GACL’s 2018 Literary Competition.

Anthea’s Rubies kept attendees entertained with a performance and dancing.
