Just over three months ago, fires ravaged east Attica in Greece, resulting in 99 people losing their lives.

Still experiencing the aftereffects, the people of the region understand all too well what those in California currently facing the wildfires are going through.

In a show of solidarity, young people in Mati, Neos Voutzas and Kokkino Limanaki have sent a message of hope.

Holding placards in areas devastated by fire, they feature a simple, yet poignant message: “We feel you Calinfornia”.

The photographs were tweeted by Spyros Litsas, Associate Professor of International Relations at the University of Macedonia, and has since been retweeted by US Ambassador to Greece Geoffrey Byatt.

Young people from #Mati, Attiki in #Greece where during last summer 100 people died from horrific wildfires, reach out to the people of #California, #USA during their time of grief and pain.
