Girl Guides Victoria are seeking members of the Greek community for their latest recruits.
Minister for Youth Affairs Ryan Smith announced $280,000 to support Girl Guides volunteers and to attract recruits from multicultural backgrounds into guiding.
Girl Guides Victoria will use the funding to research why girls from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds are participating and also why they are not participating in Girl Guides.
Mr Smith said the research would help the Girl Guides better plan for the future by identifying what aspects of Girl Guides appeal to girls and young women from multicultural backgrounds.
“Their research aims to capture the reasons and barriers identified by culturally and linguistically diverse girls and young women for getting involved in Girl Guides. The research will also include feedback from volunteer leaders.
“The findings will help the development of an inclusive Guiding strategy that provides opportunities for all girls and young women to experience the challenges, fun and friendship that Girl Guides provides in a supportive and safe environment,” Mr Smith said.
