Prime Minister of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) Zoran Zaev, appeared hopeful on Wednesday while talking to the press in regards to the Prespes agreement moving forward.

Speaking in an interview with a local television station, Zaev said that “nobody is questioning my country’s identity or official language, which is ‘Macedonian'”, while stating he is confident  his government will secure the 80 votes required for the accord with Greece to be approved.

The outcome will be determined on 9 January 2019, in what will be the FYROM Parliament’s third deliberation.

Finally, Mr Zaev said the agreement his country signed with Greece to resolve the decades-old name dispute “will strengthen the small Balkan country’s dignity” and allow it to enter NATO and the EU.
