Tennis player Thanasi Kokkinakis may have rolled through the qualifiers, however injury forced him to withdraw midway through his first round match against Japan’s Taro Daniel due to a shoulder problem.
The talented young player won the first set of his clash against Daniel at 7-5, however had to call a medical time out early in the second set for medical treatment. The pain of his right shoulder and the duress took their toll though he battled for a few games with Daniel leading 4-2 in the second set.
The 22-year-old has been plagued by shoulder and pectoral injuries and fans remember him suffering a crached kneecap in April resulting in just nine tour matches for three wins.
