The elections of the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne and Victoria were held on 20 January.

Bill Papastergiadis and his Koinotiki Ananeosi (Community Renewal) group were deemed to be clear winners.

“I’m not going to take any of this for granted,” Mr Papastergiadis, President of the Greek Community of Melbourne and Victoria (GOCMV), had told Neos Kosmos prior to the elections. “I believe that we need to work hard and demonstrate our credentials.”

The Electoral Committee appointed to conduct the elections for the new Board of Management of the Greek Community of Melbourne announced that the elections were held in accordance with the organisation’s constitution and without irregularities, on 20 January 2019.

In total, 532 members of the Community voted at the election. 20 ballots were found to be invalid. Out of the 512 valid ballots, 19 out of 25 ballots were elected.
