A flu epidemic in Greece has so far claimed the lives of 12 people within one week while recent data from the Greek Center for Disease Control and Prevention (KEELPNO) shows that a total of 18 people have lost their lives during the 2018/2019 winter flu season.

Out of those, 14 were men and four were women, with ages ranging from 25 to 90 years old while over 100 people are currently hospitalised, several in critical condition.

KEELPNO also warned that the age bracket now leans towards younger people, with more patients belonging to the 0-14 and 18-25 year-old groups.

Epidemiologists reported that only 20 per cent of the victims had been vaccinated.
