Acclaimed British photographer Guy Edwardes went bird-watching during extreme cold weather conditions in Northern Greece.

While on a photo expedition to Lake Kerkini, he came across a flock of Dalmatian pelicans trying to feed on top of the icy lake.

This is the largest pelican species is the world and these heavy birds are known for getting aggressive.

Edwardes remained out of sight for the most part of the birds’ venture to land on the lake managing to snap several stunning photographs of the majestic creatures.

His images have gotten many shares as the show the rare species soaring against the valley.

“‘I was photographing them at Lake Kerkini and was lucky to arrive when the lake was frozen over,” the photographer said.

“The pelicans were a little unsure of the ice, as the lake doesn’t freeze very often, I’m sure they were not as angry as they looked though.”

The main image went viral as it is the most enticing capture of the bird whilst wallowing in anger.
