Lovers of the Greek aniseed flavoured drink were not disappointed at the Lesbos Culture Club’s Ouzo Festival at Bayswater, 29km east of Melbourne’s CBD.

There was unlimited ouzo with 250 litres of it consumed throughout the day, and an ouzo glass to keep for every person that attended the event.

Drinks and mezedes were plentiful, and enjoyed with musical accompaniment by the Strofes band and Theano on the violin. And of course there was dancing, with the Pegasus Dance Academy entertaining the crowds with their performance.

The spirit of Greece was everywhere to be found and – after a few ouzos (too many) people actually forgot they were in Bayswater and felt like they were in Plomari, a region in Lesbos particularly known for the quality of its ouzo.
