Incumbent president Kimon Taliadoros has this week, been elected unopposed to the Presidency of Football Victoria for another four years.
Mr Taliadoros first commenced the presidency when he was elected to the post in 2015, after serving on the Football Federation Victoria board of directors in 2014.
Commenting upon his re-election to the Football Victoria Presidency, Taliadoros says it will mean continuity and certainty in the organisation as it looks to build on the growth of the game in Victoria in recent years.
Taliadoros said in a Football Victoria media statement,
“The game in Victoria is going from strength to strength and, yet, there’s so much more to achieve” he said.
“Certainly, the Board and the executive team, and the organisation as a whole, is focused on building on the momentum across a range of fronts including helping our clubs to thrive and closing the funding gap for critical infrastructure that will enable even more people to come into the game.”
Taliadoros also recently represented the Member Federation of Victoria on the Congress Review Working Group which reported to FIFA, and which eventually led to the establishment of a new and expanded FFA Congress and the resignation of FFA Chairman Stephen Lowy.
Taliadoros was elected to the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) executive at its formation in 1993 and served as the PFA’s Chief Executive 1994–95 and President 1995–98.
As a former player, he won nine Socceroos caps, and made more than 240 appearances in the NSL for clubs including South Melbourne, Sydney Olympic, Marconi Stallions and Collingwood Warriors. The former striker scored 45 goals in 100 appearances for South Melbourne.
