A whopping $9,500 was raised this weekend and will be donated to orphans and needy children in Greece. The benefit hosted by the Pontian Community of Melbourne and Victoria and Hellenic Cultural Council – ENOSI attracted many members of the Greek community who gave wholeheartedly to the cause.
The event was presented by Paul Mavroudis President of the Hellenic Cultural Council (ENOSI) with speakers Spyros Korosidis, president of the Pontian Community, and vice president Victorian Multicultural Commission, Spiro Alatsas.
With the help of the Victorian Government, Mr Alatsas donated $2,500 to the cause.
The money raised will be deposited to a Bank of Cyprus account dedicated to the cause and opened by the Estia Hellenic Women’s Cultural Association Melbourne, who recently organised a similar fundraising event.
The Greek Cultural Council and the Pontian Community would like to thank those who participated and all the sponsors and those who donated.
