Love Island UK contestant Mike Thalassitis was found dead in a park in London, leading to a number of contestants slamming the reality show for abandoning contestants after the show.

He took his life just days after his grandmother died, and had been her full-time carer.

Thalassitis was discovered in a park in Edmonton after he had committed suicide by hanging. Police are not treating his death as suspicious.

He is the second contestant in the series to be found dead after Sophie Gradon, a 2016 star, was found dead in her flat in June last year after also having committed suicide.

Contestants on the reality show receive psychological evaluations before and after the show, however complain that more help is needed in the aftermath of the series.

Rachel Fenton, a Love Island contestant from 2016, said she was offered just a “chat” with a mental health nurse before being flung into the spotlight.
