Athens has been experiencing bouts of bad weather with hail and thunderstorms over recent days.

On Wednesday, lightning struck the Acropolis Hill area and four people were injured. A statement by an  ambulance service official confirmed that two guards and two tourists – a Korean man and Scandinavian woman – were injured by broken glass. The injuries they sustained were not serious.

There was no apparent damage to the Parthenon temple or other historic sites located on the ancient hill, a spokesman told AFP.

Severe weather warnings have been issued for Athens and surrounding regions.
