Greek rowers dominated the European Rowing Championship on Sunday as they secured two gold medals and one silver at Varese, Italy, to keep Greece among the top nations in the sport.

The crew of brothers Apostolos and Nikos Godoulas, Yiannis Christou and Giorgos Tziallas won the men’s four final, leaving runner-up Romania almost two seconds behind them.

Panayiotis Magdanis and Spyros Yiannaros earned Greece’s other gold by finishing first in the final of the men’s lightweight double sculls.

A little earlier, in the women’s lightweight double sculls final Christina Yiazitzidou and Alexandra Tsiavou had finished second to clinch silver, after getting a bronze in the London Olympics.
