School students marched in central Athens on Friday to demand that action be taken to save the environment and the planet from the climate crisis.

Students gathered at Monastiraki Square before marking to Syntagma Square and the Greek Parliament. A student delegation handed a climate change resolution with their demands to the Vice President of Greek Parliament, Tasia Christodoloupoulou.

The students said that the Greek representative appeared ‘open’ to hearing the young people’s demands when they met with her.

Irene Bougiouka, 18, told the Athens Macedonian News Agency that participation in the Greek climate change rallies is growing. “Our goal is to make absolutely clear that our planet is facing an emergency situation,” she said.

She said that Christodoulopoulou appeared “open” to hearing young people when they met her in Parliament.
