It was another fine Saturday for the Hawthorn Spartans who appeared comfortable when welcoming Swinburne University.

The eastern suburb club were able to combine vice-captain Anthony Demetriou’s 100th appearance for the club with an impressive win by 48 points, as they achieved most of their targets for the game in what was a great team effort.

The man of the hour scored twice, proving that his experience is indispensable to the team and he still has plenty to offer.

The Spartans were able to claim an early lead of 30 points in the first quarter and they never looked back, with their opponents just trying to reduce the margin of their defeat.

This win sees Hawthorn maintain its position at the top of the ladder as they now have eight points and only one loss in their campaign.

Next up they will face the difficult challenge of Essendon Grammar who are second only by goal difference.

The game will be held at PEGS Sporting Fields, Keilor Park today, Saturday 22 June, at 11.40 am.
