The Governor General of Australia Quentin Bryce AC, CVO visited St George College during her trip to Adelaide.
Her Excellency was accompanied by Sir Eric Neal, former Governor of South Australia and Lady Neal, Dr Keith Evans, Associate Professor, Population and Clinical Practice, University of Adelaide, and Mr John Stock OAM, CEO Life Education South Australia.
During her visit, Her Excellency had the opportunity to observe our students taking part in an interactive presentation by staff of Life Education Programme on the uses and abuses of caffeine. The Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia outlined the roles and functions of the office to the students which include being a representative in Australia at the federal and national level of the Australian monarch.
Her Excellency explained the functions and roles of the Governor-General which include appointing ambassadors, ministers and judges, giving Royal Assent to legislation, issuing writs for elections and bestowing honours.
As the first female to hold the role of Governor of Australia in the history of Australia, she proved to be a powerful role model to the female students.
