The funeral for Father Nicholas Vrettakos will be held on Wednesday 10 July at the Presentation of Our Lady to the Temple Church in North Balwyn at 10.30 am.
The burial will follow at Springvale Botanical Cemetery, after which the family will host a reception at the church hall to honour Father Vrettakos’ memory.
A memorial service (trisagio) will take place the evening before the funeral on Tuesday 9 July at the church in North Balwyn at 7.00 pm.
Father Vrettakos passed away on Thursday, aged 63 after a long battle with cancer.
He was the parish priest of the Presentation of Our Lady to the Temple Church, serving the Orthodox community of North Balwyn and surrounds for many years.
Archbishop Makarios said Father Vrettakos “went peacefully”, surrounded by his loved ones.
