The world wide phenomenom Gangnam Style has taken a Greek turn on youtube with many Greek amatuer YouTubers having a go at creating the same viral sensation with their version of Korean rapper Psy’s global hit Gangham Style.
The original video – released on YouTube on July 15, 2012 – has hit over 500 million views. The song was downloaded 816,000 times in its first week alone and has topped the charts in Greece and Australia. It has spawned a plethora of copycat clips including ones produced in Greece. Videos showing the youth of Greece replicating the ‘Gangnam Style’ dance move, and clips about politicians, have been seen on YouTube.
