French composer Abaji will play in Melbourne next month. Abaji is the son of a Greek Armenian father from Smyrna and an Armenian Syrian mother born in Istanbul who met in Lebanon, where Abaji was born.

The composer, singer and multi-instrumentalist began his music career at an early age after immigrating with his family to France in 1976. Musical encounters have since taken Abaji across five continents. He started learning the guitar at an early age, then other instruments followed: the clarinet, percussion, oud and bouzouki as well as various flutes he collected during his many travels. His multi-instrumental transformation allowed him to synthesize his musical passions.

Abaji will perform a one-off concert at The Corner Hotel, 57 Swan Street, Richmond on Wednesday 7 November at 7:30 pm. Adults: $20 and students: $15. Tickets available from The Corner Box Office, 57 Swan St, Richmond, or by calling (03) 9427 9198.
