Police swooped on armed youths brawling at Oakleigh on Friday night.

Police were first called to Warrawee Park at about 10.20pm on Friday after reports that an unknown man had been assaulted. The police report states that the area was patrolled but no victim came forward, however a group of youths in the area was moved on.

At 10.45pm, an Oakleigh East man, aged 29, was assaulted at Eaton Mall receiving cuts and bruising to his face. Police again attended and collected details of people in the group and escorted them to the railway station to ensure there were no further incidents or breaches of the peace.

Two men, a 17-year-old from Cranbourne North and a 19-year-old from Murrumbeena had capsicum spray used on them as they attempted to start a fight. The Cranbourne man received a penalty notice for riotous behaviour, and the Murrumbeena man was interviewed for riotous behaviour and the possession of a controlled weapon. on.

A 16-year-old male from Oakleigh was interviewed for a weapon offence and a 15-year-old from Mount Waverley was arrested for an unrelated theft offence.
