Less than a day ago (Creek time) Greece’s national basketball team beat Italy on the first day of the ‘Acropolis’ basketball tournament taking place in Athens with an impressive score of  83-63.

Earlier today Greece did it again, this time logging another win against Turkey.

Top performers Georgios Printezis and Giannis Antetokounmpo led the way with 18 and 16 points respectively coming ahead 84-70.

The most noteworthy performance, however, came from Turkey’s Furkan Korkmaz who scored his national team 25 points while also adding eight rebounds and five assists.

His team-mate Ersan Ilyasova added another 16 points.

“Maybe the players are affected by the fact that [Kostas] Sloukas is missing. We have 15 more days and three games coming up,” coach Thanasis Skourtopoulos said after the end of the game, commenting on his team’s performance. “We hope that Sloukas will be fit to play when he is needed, we will have him in the team in the FIBA World Cup even with a small delay.”

Turkey will play against Italy at 5pm (CET) later today while Greece is scheduled to face Serbia at 7.30pm (CET).
