Mytilineos has announced that METKA EGN, its subsidiary, has signed a 10-year electricity supply contract with Coles, Australia’s second-largest supermarket chain with more than 2,500 stores nationwide.
The electricity, derived exclusively from renewable sources, will be produced annually to power Australia’s electricity system through photovoltaic parks in New South Wales. These three parks providing energy will be exclusively owned by METKA EGN, and will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 180,000 tonnes per year thanks to their exclusive use of solar energy. The construction of these parks is scheduled to begin immediately so that the facilities can start supplying Coles and the grid in July 2020.
