Paralympic swimmer Dimosthenis Michalentzakis has won gold at the London World Para Swimming Allianz Championships – not once, but three times in one week.

The talented 20-year-old placed first in the 50-metre freestyle with a time of 26.54.

He also came first in the 100-metre freestyle and 100-metre butterfly.

Michalentzakis started swimming at the age of three as part of his physiotherapy treatment for the paralysis he has in his right arm due to a brachial plexus injury at birth.

In 2015 he received a sporting achievement award from the Greek Paralympic Committee, and in 2016 won gold in the S9 100-metre butterfly at the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Michalentzakis is in great shape for the upcoming Paralympic Games in Tokyo in 2020, and is sure to be on everyone’s radar as the one to watch out for.
