The Greek Othodox Community of Melbourne and Victoria, (GOCMV) honoured the Greek Australian Vietnam War Veterans. Over 120 Greek Australian men served with the Australian Defence Forces between 1962 and 1972 in Vietnam.

The author of Australians in the Vietnam War, also a Vietnam veteran, Steve Kyritsis was honoured at the event along with 17 of his comrades-in-arms.

The president of the GOCMV Bill Papastergiadis presented plaques to all the veterans and on presenting Mr Kyritsis one he said, “What strikes me is the uniqueness of all these men’s stories and that they are told their stories in their own words providing us with an incredibly important legacy.”

Mr Kyritsis also aknowledge Mr Papastergiadis with an apreciation plaque from all the Greek Australian Vietnam Veterans. He also aknowledge Mr George Lekakis, the Chairman of the Victorian Multicultural Commision, for his support in making the book a reality through funding.
