He had moved to the Middle East in April last year to take charge of Sky News Arabia as its chief executive officer and managing editor, and now Angelos Frangopoulos is on the move again, having recently been appointed CEO of the news organisation’s holding company Abu Dhabi Media Investment Corporation (ADMIC).

Mr Frangopoulos, who had joined Sky News Australia when it was launched in 1996, rose to become its Managing Editor (2000) and CEO (2004). The channel was the first to provide round-the-clock television news coverage in Australia.

Last year Mr Frangopoulos was appointed a member of the Order of Australia for services to broadcasting, higher education, the promotion of journalistic standards and services to the community. He was appointed Doctor of Arts in 2014.

Sky News Arabia is a joint venture between ADMIC, which is owned by UAE deputy prime minister Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nayan, the UK-based Sky Plc, online news outlet Al Roeya and the English language newspaper in Abu Dhabi, The National.
