Meteorologists warn Greeks in Athens to brace themselves for rain and gale force winds on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The low pressure system approaching from the west and gale-force winds are expected to reach 9 on the Beaufort scale.
The Ionian islands experienced the worsening weather on Tuesday, while rainstorms are expected to hit most of the country along with predictions of hail for the Aegean islands.

The Athens Naitonal Observatory’s meteo service also pointed to the conditions being favourable for the transfer of dust from North Africa creating muddy rain.
