Michael Ibrahim and associate Rodney Atkinson have been acquitted of conspiracy to murder business associate John Macris.

The court heard they conspired to kill Macris after they suspected him of shooting and injuring another member of the Ibrahim family in 2009. During the trial, the court heard that Ibrahim planned the murder while he was in Broken Hill jail for another crime.

When police searched Atkinson’s home they found a gun, a photo of Mr Macris and his address. Atkinson – currently in custody – will be sentenced in January for another charge of possessing an unauthorised gun.

Michael Ibrahim is also still in jail for a separate manslaughter conviction.
