A new effort to reclaim the Parthenon Marbles was begun on Friday.
The Athens Bar Association announced the creation of a National Committee to Reclaim the Parthenon Sculptures. The committee consists of Presidents of all Bar Associations of Greece.
In their statement on Friday, the group said that they had issued a call to 58 agencies in Greece, such as universities unions and scientists. They are calling for the greatest possible representation in the group so that the venture can be one of national unity and the greatest possible contribution to the cause. Because of the large number of committee members, they said, an executive council will be established to coordinate the committee actions and implement them, while a group of specialist lawyers will also be formed to supply necessary legal support.
