Germany’s Alexander Zverev and Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas both experienced defeat in their first matches of the year on Friday during the ATP Cup in Brisbane.

Tsitsipas was back on form on Sunday, beating Germany’s World Number 7 with a 6-1, 6-4 win at the Pat Rafter Arena on Sunday.

Zverev finished with 10 double faults and a first-serve success rate of 45 per cent. He smashed his racquet and steamed after losing from one set.

The win was Tsitsipas first in the tournament.
