The Blessing of the Waters ceremony took place in cool weather at Frankston.

Drizzle, strong winds and a smoky atmosphere meant that only the ‘brave’ took the plunge to dive for the Holy Cross at the Blessing of the Waters ceremony.

The diver who caught the cross was Manolis Arabatzis. Traditionally, the diver who catches the cross is believed to be blessed with luck for the rest of the year.

Despite the unusual weather conditions, a number of people arrived for the ceremony, which was followed by traditional celebrations.
