Desperately needed rain is falling across the city of Melbourne after a day of smoke haze, however there are fears that the much-needed rain may be a ‘double edged sword’ for fire-affected areas across NSW and parts of Victoria.

Storms and rain were impacting central Victorian regions from early this afternoon and will move through to NSW on Thursday, however while the rain may be positive in putting out the fire in areas that have been affected there are also fears that heavy rainfall could bring flash flooding in burnt-out areas which are vulnerable to landslips.
