The maintenance of US tariff exemptions on some Greek farm products was welcomed by the Greek-American Chamber of Commerce on Thursday.

The Greek products were exempted from tariffs imposed by the US on imports from the European Union.  Plum juice was added to the list of exemptions.

The chamber said that the exemption would help promote the sale of Greek products in foreign markets. It also said that trade relations between the two countries were improving and that bilateral relations were at their highest level ever.

According to the Greek-American Chamber, the products exempted from US tariffs included olive oil, table olives, cheese and wine.

The organisation said it had discussed the exemptions with US officials in Athens and during members’ visits to the US Department of Commerce in Washington.
