One of the oldest Greek women in Australia , Melpomeni Brakoulia, has passed away at age 102 on Thursday, 27 February.

Ms Brakoulia who was from Mana Korinthia was a born just before the Great Catastrophe in Asia Minor.

In 1988, she came to Melbourne to live with her children following the death of her husband.

She had a lived a full life said her daughter. Anstasia Chondrou who added: “She found rest and was calm. Her granddaughter Kristalou closed her eyes.

Melpomeni Brakoula is survived by four children, 10 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. Her funeral will take place on Wednesday at The Transfiguration of Our Lord in Thomastown.
