Getting married can be hard work – it takes a lot of planning and organisation to make sure your special day runs smoothly. Minimise stress (and pre-wedding zits) by taking note of our wedding timeline.
One year before the special day
- Decide on a date and time
- Buy bridal magazines for inspiration
- Establish a preliminary wedding budget
- Find a wedding coordinator (if you’re planning to have one)
- Decide on the number of people in your bridal party
- Select and book a photographer
- Decide whether you’re having a church or civil ceremony
- Start thinking about venues (or caterers)
- Start looking at wedding dresses
Six to nine months before…
- Book your reception venue
- Organise your bridal party
- Begin organising the outfits for the wedding
- Pick your dress
- Select your videographer
- Book your church or celebrant
- Choose your wedding cake
- Start planning flowers and other decorations
- Make arrangements for wedding entertainment
- Start thinking about your honeymoon
- Finalise invite list
Three or four months to go…
- Organise your gift registry and include details with invitation
- Book accommodation for your wedding night
- Finalise honeymoon details
- Order decorations
- Send your invitations
- Meet with your photographer to discuss your requirements
- Order your wedding rings
- Finalise outfits for wedding party
- Organise accommodation for out of town guests
Four to six weeks before…
- Put together a plan for the wedding day
- Organise a rehearsal
- Finalise the order of speeches
- Finalise and confirm menu, decorations, flowers, accessories, transport, etc
- Make appointments with hairdressers, make up artists
One or two weeks before…
- Attend your hen’s/buck’s night
- Review seating plans and finalise seating arrangements
- Get a massage, facial, manicure, pedicure, etc.
- Reconfirm honeymoon reservations
- Find your passport
- Make sure entertainment/music is sorted out
- Review final details with photographer, videographer, etc.
The day of the wedding
- Have a glass of champagne and try not to stress out
- Allow plenty of time to get dressed and arrive at the venue
- Don’t stress the small stuff – relax and enjoy your day!
