An additional of 21 new cases were added to the total of patients in Greece who have been tested positive for the COVID-19 strain bringing the tally to 66.

Most of the patients had reportedly been among a travel group touring Israel and Egypt in late February as part of a religious pilgrimage.

Four more cases were from individuals that came in contact with the travelers, according to the announcement of the National Public Health Organisation (EODY) on Saturday.

No fatalities have been reported with only one 66-year-old male traveler currently in intensive care treated for pneumonia.

The group which consists mainly of people that reside in southwest Greece and the nearby island of Zakynthos returned to the country on 27 February with several members presenting mild flu symptoms. Some of the group’s members came into contact with people in other areas in Greece or health workers who had not taken necessary precautions when treating them.

The government is expected to unveil measures concerning schools and other public spaces on Sunday or Monday, Kathimerini reported, amidst fears of a wider geographical spread of the disease.
