The European Football Confederation (UEFA) has announced its decision to postpone the grand finals of both the Champions League and the Europa League.

A small statement released by UEFA states that this was mainly because of the coronavirus disease that is currently plaguing Europe and the rest of this world, forcing all sporting events to come to a halt.

The unpredictability of the Covid-19 does not allow for a specific time frame to be given regarding the resumption of football services which means that it is unknown when normal operating routines will take place. As a result, UEFA’s hands are tied as far as the rescheduling of the dates of the two finals.

The Champions League Final was originally meant to take place on 30 May in Istanbul’s Olympic Stadium, while the Europa League Final was scheduled for three days earlier (27 May) at the Stadion Energa of Gdansk, Poland.

The new dates will be decided at a later time while the venues will remain as they are.
