Fronditha Care acknowledges the statement made today by the Prime Minister calling on aged care providers who have imposed visitation restrictions in their residential aged care facilities beyond government guidelines to cease these additional restrictions.

To date, Fronditha Care has no reported cases of coronavirus amongst its consumers or staff.

The organisation has voluntary lockdown currently in place across its facilities in Victoria and NSW to safeguard its elderly residents and staff from the coronavirus and cannot immediately lift the lockdown due to operational protocols we must enhance to comply with guidelines and new laws regarding flu vaccinations. Fronditha Care will only implement a model of visitation that is safe, compliant and practicable.

The coronavirus is currently in a suppressive state. Feedback is currently being solicited from the families and representatives of the elderly people it cares for. After consultation with consumers, families and/or representatives and aged care peak bodies, Fronditha Care will make a decision regarding the implementation of a model of visitation that complies with the government’s guidelines and has the safety of residents, staff and families as its primary concern.

“Fronditha Care and aged care providers across Australia should be commended for the vigilance they have displayed in protecting those most vulnerable from the coronavirus. Difficult decisions have been made with our duty of care in mind. We want to thank the families and representatives of our elderly residents for their ongoing support during this unprecedented time,” CEO, Michael Malakonas, stated.
