The future of wedding ceremonies and receptions are predicted to include hand sanitisers and handkerchiefs as party favours and tables separated using a measuring tape.

As the coronavirus settles in some states and breaks out in others, couples are trying to find ways around the restrictions so they can still celebrate one of the most important days in their lives.

“There are many changes and both couples and people involved in the wedding planning are looking for ways to ensure everyone’s safety and also celebrate it,” explains wedding organiser Phaedra Liakou.

“Dancing is the biggest issue we have to deal with. The receptions are getting smaller, the couples are re-selecting guests and many of them are being removed from their lists, protecting older people,” says Ms Liakou.

Many of these couples are also taking a leaf out of the churches book, opting for a live streaming service to be included during their ceremony to cater to the older generation of guests who are at higher risk of infection.
