Extreme weather conditions in Greece have seen temperatures soar with high forecasts for some mainland regions. In a photo snapped by Alexandros Roniotis in Crete, however, two children stand between two large snow ridges.

Mr Roniotis, who runs the site cretabeaches.com, snapped the photo at Skinakas near the peak of Psiloritis, which stands at 1,750 metres. He wanted to highlight that in Crete you can find yourself from a stunning beach to a snow ridge within a short time.

The photo shows him and his two children carrying beach gear after a family adventure that started for the beach in Karteros and ended up in the snow.

He captioned the photo, “Dad, I think we made a mistake! We don’t see the beach.”
