Greece has suspended flights to and from Qatar after 12 individuals, including Greeks travelling from Australia, tested positive for COVID-19.

The 12 individuals who tested positive were on a flight carrying 91 people from Doha to Athens. They will be in quarantine for two weeks, whereas those who tested negative will remain in quarantine for seven days.

Two Greeks from Australia, nine people from Pakistan with Greek residency papers and a member of a Greek-Japanese family tested positive.

Qatar Airways flights have been suspended until 15 June.

On Tuesday, Greece had reported 2,937 cases of coronavirus and 179 deaths.

Greece has had a low number of cases compared to many other countries. The country began a gradual easing of restrictions on 4 May following a weeks-long lockdown.
