As the towers in Flemington and North Melbourne has shut their residents within, the Yarra City Council is urging the government to test every resident within the 12 towers in its municipality.

Anyone testing positive, would then be transferred to an isolation hotel, in order to avoid spreading the virus to other residents in the towers, which would mean unavoidably another lockdown.

The tenants within the high-rise towers in Richmond, Collingwood and Fitzroy have been worried for months about the risks of transmission in their estates due to inadequate cleaning processes.

As the 3.000 residents in the nine towers of Flemington and North Melbourne, suffer the consequences of the strictest lock-down measures in Australia, Yarra Councillor Stephen Jolly, is calling for the government to place hand sanitisers in every shared area, such as lifts, foyers, laundry in towers within Yarra.
