There have been 27 deaths in Victoria as a result of COVID-19 and, among these, at least two Greek Australian families are mourning their loved ones.

Neos Kosmos has confirmed that at least two people of Greek background in Melbourne have lost their lives due to coronavirus. Out of respect to the privacy of the families of the deceased, we can only confirm the deaths without giving more details.

The newspaper has also confirmed that a number of Greek Australians have been infected and hospitalised due to COVID-19 whereas others are self-isolating in their homes for the duration of the virus.

The coronavirus is real, extremely contagious and dangerous, and we encourage our readers to follow the directions of authorities. Melbourne has been in Stage Three lockdown since last Thursday and measures will continue until 19 August.

At today’s press conference, Victoria’s Premier Daniel Andrews said that tighter measures may be implemented if the high figures continue.
