Netflix announced the promotion of Greek-American content manager Ted Sarandos to the position of co-CEO. The promotion comes at a time when subscription growth is estimated to slow down in the group though Netflix estimates it will add 2.5 million subscribers to its global customer base.

Mr Sarandos, who has been with Netflix for 20 years, will continue to play a leading role in the decision-making of content on Netflix.

As co-CEO, he will be the one most likely to succeed current CEO and founder Reed Hastings.
